24th June -3rd September 2016 Dr Xiaobo Luo visited HUST

Dr.  Xiaobo Luo, a researcher from University of Hull, visited State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST).

HUST is located in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province. HUST is one of Top 10 universities in China. HUST has

a big campus with an area of over 460 hectares and 72% greenery coverage, which has earned it the honorary title of “University in the Forest”. During my visit, HUST just was holding a Lotus Festival. Varieties of lotuses were placed inside the campus, which was really refreshing to the heart and pleasing to the eye.

In this period, Dr. Xiaobo Luo had many discussions with the researchers, PhD and master students about biomass/waste plastic pyrolysis. Experiments arrangement towards model development of this process had been discussed. He visited their lab equipment and pilot plants for pyrolysis and gasification of biomass and waste plastic and observed the experiments. Xiaobo also visited HUST’s carbon capture demonstration plant and biomass pyrolytic polygeneration demonstration plant. He did a presentation with the title of ‘Multi-scale Modelling and Simulation (M&S) and Its Application in CCS and BE’.

Professor Meihong Wang visited HUST

Professor Meihong Wang visited State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion in Huazhong University of Science and Technology from 25th July 2016 to 28th July 2016. He was invited to deliver a presentation with a title of ‘Study of Process Intensification for Post-combustion Carbon Capture Through Modelling and Simulation’ to introduce the projects and researchers. Professor Hanping Yang from HUST also presented the work the group has done. Both sides discussed the future exchange plan and potential collaborations. Professor Wang visited different lab equipment and pilot plants for pyrolysis and gasification of biomass and waste plastic. He also visited HUST’s carbon capture demonstration plant and biomass pyrolytic polygeneration demonstration plant.
